The Consortium lead by the Centre for European Constitutional Law (CECL) in which European Profiles is an active member, has been awarded by the World Bank a new Project in the Republic of Azerbaijan entitled "Technical Assistance to Strengthen Judicial-Legal Council". The budget of this project is € 129.140,00 € and it is expected to finish in May 2011, with the beneficiary of the project being the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The objective of the consultancy is to assist the Judicial Legal Council (JLC) by developing a set of recommendations based on best European and international practice for strengthening its technical capacity in the areas of selection of judges, evaluation of judges’ activity, their jurisdiction, promotion and disciplinary proceedings, as well as other issues related to administration of courts and judges in Azerbaijan. This objective will be realized through Institutional strengthening and lay the basis for further effective operations of JLC.
