Description of Project:

 

Definition and implementation of a strategy to improve and support public information in the Chernobyl affected regions. Project beneficiaries were assisted to initiate and implement an information strategy at the local level, with the objective to inform the population on safe living practices under conditions of radiological contamination. Main project components were:

  • Analysis of awareness level and information needs on safe living practices carried out in selected settlements in the contaminated areas,
  • Definition of the main elements of a public information strategy for the needs of the local population,
  • Delivery of training in public information methods for the staff of national and regional Chernobyl information Centres,
  • Organisation of six pilot local information events in selected regional Chernobyl centres in three countries,
  • Production of printed materials with instructions on safe living practices concerning locally produced foodstuff,
  • Production of a CD-ROM for educational purposes,
  • Elaboration of a Public Relations and Communications Manual
